MSG Aviation partners with Dolphitech to deliver high-quality aircraft inspection service
04/01/2022
MSG Aviation has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Dolphitech, a leading provider of non-destructive testing (NDT) platforms. The Dolphitech technology will help to develop MSG Aviation’s inspection service, enabling aircraft inspections with ultrasonic technology.
MSG Aviation delivers products and solutions for the inspection of aircraft, in addition to washing, de-sanding, de-icing and engine flushing. By partnering with Dolphitech, MSG Aviation aims to strengthen its inspection offering to aircraft operators. The company’s cutting-edge ultrasound technology makes it possible to examine the aircraft and detect damage without requiring manpower to physically inspect the fuselage. The data is recorded, stored and delivered to the aircraft owner using AMOS (Swiss Aviation Software) for evaluation. The data is saved and can be used for comparison in later inspections.
Dolphitech has a strong track record of advancing world-class ultrasound technologies for the NDT market and the intended agreement with MSG Aviation entails the use of platforms for testing. The platforms will be used in MSG Aviation’s RS-400 and RS-500 models to deliver a more holistic and less intrusive inspection service.
Geir Steiro, CEO of MSG Aviation, said: “Dolphitech has outstanding competence in ultrasound technology and data capture, especially developed for inspections of aircraft. We are pleased to use the NDT technology from Dolphitech to improve our aircraft inspection offering. A digital and accurate inspection will save time and hassle for our customers.”
Jason Smith, Chief Commercial Officer at Dolphitech, said: “Safety is paramount in aviation. Dolphitech provides an unbeatable ultrasonic technology to inspect and detect damage, degradation and defects with easy usage and data interpretation. Our solutions for aircraft inspection fit like a glove for MSG Aviation’s offering, meeting the strictest industry standards.”
MSG Aviation’s automated facility is now ready for use after a few years of research, development and testing of the prototype at Skien Airport, Geiteryggen, Norway. The solution has been developed with funds from the EU and Innovation Norway, among others. Following recent letters of intent with Avinor, Norway’s airport operator, Flyr and Norwegian airlines and Widerøe Ground Handling, MSG Aviation now signs its fifth letter of intent, bringing the company one step closer to commercial launch.
