Amec Foster Wheeler secures £35 million contract with UK MOD

Amec Foster Wheeler has announced that it has been awarded a contract to supply the UK Ministry of Defence with research and technology (R&T) services.The work, for the MOD’s Naval Nuclear Propulsion Programme (NNPP), is worth approximately £35 million over five years.

Defence Minister Harriett Baldwin said: “Long-term investment in innovative research and technology like this is absolutely essential to ensuring that Britain’s nuclear programme remains cutting-edge.
“Underpinned by the UK’s rising defence budget and £178 billion ten-year equipment plan, this new deal will help protect Britain and secure scores of highly-skilled jobs in Warrington and Dorset.”

The R&T contract covers critical areas of capability such as materials performance, materials science, modelling, code development, thermal hydraulics and NDT and examination.
Amec Foster Wheeler has provided support to the NNPP for several decades and this new contract secures that arrangement.
