Bilfinger Salamis UK launches new Aberdeen base

Leading integrated maintenance, modifications and services contractor Bilfinger Salamis has opened a new multi-million-pound operations, equipment and logistics site in Aberdeen, marking a long-term commitment to the region and the UK energy market.Located at The Core development in Murcar, Bridge of Don, one of the most accessible low-carbon business communities in Scotland, the 27,000 sq ft base will operate as the company’s northern hub for all equipment, plant and materials logistics to service onshore and offshore sites throughout the UK.
The new facility, which will have office space for 70 employees when COVID-19 restrictions ease, will house the company’s technology and digitalisation hub, conferencing facilities and dedicated practical training rooms for delivering product trials and customer demonstrations on site.
The base, which provides easy access to the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (AWPR), the heliport, local harbours and the city centre, will also include a dedicated unit for maintaining the company’s large fleet of advanced inspection and rope access equipment.
Bilfinger Salamis, one of the largest employers of inspection, maintenance and rope access personnel in the UK, says the site will deliver a more holistic logistics service for its clients and will play a key role in growing its inspection business.
The investment, which the company pledged in 2019, represents the strength of its commitment to the region and to operating in the North Sea.It follows a number of key contract renewals that the business secured in the second half of 2020, which included multi-year agreements to deliver fabric maintenance and inspection services for two major operators.
