North Star Imaging appoints Metrology Product Innovation Manager
02/05/2018

Valentina completed her PhD programme in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Padova, Italy. Her PhD focused on industrial computed tomography (CT) for coordinate metrology, establishing traceability and enhancing the accuracy of X-ray CT dimensional measurements and determining the sources of errors in CT metrology.
Her research covered several aspects of metrology, including coordinate metrology, surface metrology, measurement uncertainty and measurement traceability. Specifically, her research addressed the study of task-specific CT measurement uncertainty, the effects of surface roughness on CT dimensional measurements, metrological performance verification of CT systems using conventional and helical scanning trajectories and the effects of CT system geometrical errors.
Valentina’s background is in production engineering and industrial metrology and she obtained her master’s and bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Padova.
During her studies, she gained experience in dimensional and surface metrology, including the use of coordinate measuring machines (tactile and non-contact CMMs), as well as optical and contact profilers.
She holds CMTrain – Level 2: CMM – Operator certification and has been actively working in the field of CT and metrology since completing her master’s thesis.
Valentina is the author of several peer-reviewed journal and conference papers on computed tomography and metrology. She has also co-authored a book chapter on computed tomography, along with presenting her research contributions at major conferences and symposiums in Europe and the USA.
