After 15 months of negotiation, Enkon, a
Turkish-based NDT contractor, has recently purchased two Silverwing RMS
systems to aid with securing contracts in both Turkey and Iraq. Enkon is
planning a campaign of non-intrusive corrosion mapping of pressure
vessels and oil storage tanks, which will enable the field operations to
manage this risk and provide reliable data for repair or replacement of
plant during planned shutdowns.

Mistras Group Limited has successfully
completed the design, manufacture, installation and first year’s
operation of structural health monitoring systems on 32 offshore wind
turbines in the Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm. This customised
solution was developed by Mistras engineers located in both the UK and
the USA to confirm the structural integrity of the subsea monopile on
each of the 32 turbines. The contract was awarded following the
development and subsequent trial of monitoring systems on an initial
five turbines over an 18-month period.

GE’s Inspection Technologies business is to
open a technology solutions centre in the UK, to provide customers with a
facility to test GE’s non-destructive testing technologies and solve
their specific inspection problems. The new Technical Solutions Centre
(TSC), the first in the UK, will be located in Ratby, near Leicester,
just 1.5 miles from the Groby manufacturing site of GE Measurement &
Control.
