12/10/2017

Carestream’s Non-Destructive Testing organisation has announced its newest partnership with Baugh & Weedon Ltd. Baugh & Weedon provides outstanding technical sales, project management, local manufacturing, product and after-sales support that the company believes will enhance its customers’ experience in this region.

Founded in 1967, Baugh & Weedon has a background in manufacturing MPI benches and FPI lines, eddy current testing (ECT) instruments, ultrasonic testing (UT) thickness gauges, flaw detectors and pipeline inspection systems. It has demonstrated the ability to work with highly-engineered digital systems and provide its customers with the highest-level technical solution for every application.

“We are pleased to have joined forces with Baugh & Weedon Ltd,” said Martin Graen, Carestream’s Worldwide General Manager for Non-Destructive Testing Solutions. “The UK markets have historically been a strong area for Carestream, with both conventional film  and digital systems. Baugh & Weedon’s investment in highly-trained customer-focused technical personnel and equipment to support NDT radiographic testing (RT) proves its commitment to excellence in this critical industry. Combine this with Carestream’s long list of award-winning products and it is a powerful combination for delivering customers the solutions they need.”

Carestream recently launched several new products in the NDT market, building on 100 years of imaging history and engineering excellence. The HPX-1 Plus builds on its industry-leading CR system HPX-1, designed for the rigours of the NDT industry with improved PMTs for better image quality, high-resolution 25 micron scanning and increased throughput for higher productivity. The HPX-PRO is the industry’s first lightweight narrow-width scanner, designed for portability and field use. It has scan resolutions down to 25 microns, can run on battery power and offers productivity equal to manual film processing.

The newest to the line is the DRX-Plus DR Detector, which leverages years of technical expertise (over 11,000 DR detectors shipped) combined with customer input. This next-generation of DR detector features a 139-micron pixel pitch, wireless capability and a unique IP57 enclosure, making it exceptionally well suited for mobile NDT work. It also excels in a lab environment, where it can be run in a tethered configuration for rapid data transfer. Long-life lithium batteries provide up to several hundred images per charge and with the optional three-battery charger pack and hot swap feature, crews can keep working as long as needed without rebooting.

The agreement between Baugh & Weedon and Carestream NDT will open up the UK markets to world-class products and technical support. “We are delighted to have partnered with Carestream NDT,” said Mike Reilly, CEO of Baugh & Weedon. “Our organisation has been building momentum, leveraging years of experience together with a focus on customer service.

“Carestream gives us the tools to take the next step into NDT radiography, offering technically-advanced and robust products for the market. This is a win-win situation.”
