Olympus announces direct sales effort of XRF products in UK & Ireland
06/04/2011
Since the acquisition of Innov-X Systems by Olympus last year, the Innov-X XRF products have continued to be sold in the UK and Ireland through its dedicated distributor, Element 3 Limited. However, to further enhance the growth of this important area and provide an even greater level of customer focus and satisfaction for the domestic market, Olympus is, with effect from 1 April 2011, bringing together its X-ray fluorescence (XRF), non-destructive testing (NDT) and remote visual inspection (RVI) businesses under one dedicated direct sales division – Olympus Industrial.Building upon an already well established and dedicated Industrial Sales Support and Technical Services infrastructure in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, for the RVI and NDT businesses, Olympus is committed to ensuring that the addition of the XRF product portfolio will provide an enhanced level of customer service to XRF users.
“We will continue to offer a dedicated field-based XRF team and, by working closely together with the existing Olympus Industrial infrastructure, there is tremendous potential to create strong synergies across all technical modalities,” said Andrew Clarke, UK XRF Technical Sales Manager for Olympus. Andrew has spent several years working across the EMEA region for Innov-X, prior to its acquisition by Olympus, and he originally set up the Innov-X business in the UK.
“XRF adds an extra dimension to Olympus’s existing product portfolio, with some more diverse applications from recycling materials, metals, plastic, glass, liquids and sludges, archeometallurgy, oil analysis, mining exploration, environmental testing and the more familiar PMI (positive material testing), traditionally found within the NDT marketplace,” he said.
The Innov-X XRF analyser range continues to gain momentum, with ongoing feature developments of the successful and comprehensive hand-held Delta range and the portable bench-top X50/5000. The Delta analyser is unique in the geometry of the tube and detector position to the sample, its robust frame and design for ergonomic use. The additional docking station acts as a charging station as well as a data download facility. The Olympus Innov-X brand stands for innovation in XRF, focusing on customer demand for a utility tool with superior analytical performance.
“Olympus looks forward to further developing relationships with the loyal Innov-X customer base,” concluded Andrew Clarke.
