Technology Design releases new software
05/04/2013
Technology Design Ltd has released version 19.03 of the TD-Scan software, which includes the second generation of its phased array wizard and many improvements to the phased array and strip-scan zonal discrimination modules. The phased array wizard guides the user through a tri-fold process of set-up, calibration and time corrected gain (TCG) adjustment. The calibration and TCG sections provide ‘per-focal-law’ data in a convenient package with auditable verification procedures to ensure that the quality of the calibrations meet with procedural requirements.
As experienced operators know, an unfortunate result of multi-focal law calibration is spurious signals from calibration block geometry. These signals have long been a challenge and have forced the industry to rethink the design of the basic industry-standard calibration and reference blocks. An innovative ‘lock-on’ signal tracking feature eliminates the problem of spurious signals from higher angles interfering with the echo-dynamic envelope from the target reflector and therefore improves data accuracy and ease of use.
ESBeamTool® Zonal, available online from www.eclipsescientific.com, may be installed as a bolt-on application to the pre-installed ESBeamTool®, CAD and ray-tracing software. Complex zonal beam configurations required for AUT may be automatically solved at the click of a button and then seamlessly imported by the TD-Scan software ready for calibration and amplitude correction using the wizard. The phased array wizard is complemented by a TOFD wizard that is straightforward and culminates in automatic analysis of signal-to-noise ratio and then adjusts gain and averaging accordingly.
