Creaform returns as official supplier of NYYC American Magic

Creaform, a business unit of Ametek Inc and a worldwide leader in portable 3D measurement solutions, has announced that it is renewing its partnership as Official 3D Measurement Technology Supplier of the New York Yacht Club (NYYC) American Magic Challenger for the 37th America’s Cup (AC37). Celebrated as the highest prize in sailing, the America’s Cup represents the oldest international sporting trophy and stands as one of the most challenging sporting endeavours.

Their 3D measurement products provide us with the accurate and reliable data we need to improve our performance on the water. We greatly appreciate Creaform’s continued support in helping NYYC American Magic achieve our goal of winning AC37.”
Throughout the project, Creaform will help NYYC American Magic by providing state-of-the-art dimensional measurement equipment, such as metrology-grade 3D scanners, photogrammetry optical coordinate systems and scan-to-computer-aided design (CAD) and inspection software.
These cutting-edge 3D solutions are accelerating the development and fine-tuning of critical components for American Magic’s two 23 m foiling monohull yachts. Creaform’s team will also provide invaluable training and advice on various complex design and 3D metrology tasks. The portability of Creaform’s equipment means that it can be easily shipped and used at several team sites, including their Rhode Island, USA, factory, their test centre in Pensacola, Florida, USA, and in Barcelona, Spain, where the final race will take place.

The Official Opening Ceremony of the 37th America’s Cup will be held in Barcelona on 22 August 2024. After that, the Final Preliminary Event and the Challenger Selection Series will follow, leading up to the America’s Cup Match starting on 12 October 2024.
The Challenger Selection Series will determine which team will face the Defender Emirates Team New Zealand in the America’s Cup Match.
