Sensoteq wins business award

Northern Ireland-based business Sensoteq has won the title of Small Business of the Year at the Belfast Telegraph Business Awards 2024.

Sensoteq designs wireless reliability sensors for machine condition monitoring that co-founder Alan McCall has compared to “a Fitbit for a machine”. After receiving the award from Kathryn Holland, Commercial Manager of Down Royal Racecourse, Alan admitted he had not expected to win.

“I did not expect it at all. One of my team put the company forward, so to actually get here was an achievement and then to win is incredible,” he said.

The Belfast company has just celebrated eight years in business, after it was founded by Alan McCall and Idir Boudaoud.
Alan said: “We are providing sensors to around 42 companies across the world, all from a wee company in Belfast, but we are just growing and growing.”

He thanked the judges and the award’s sponsor, Down Royal Racecourse, and hopes the award can help Sensoteq grow in prominence: “It is great for us to get the recognition.

We have been out and around for a bit, but we are really trying to get our name out there and hopefully this award can help us.”
Sensoteq is hoping to continue to expand the business in the coming years. Alan said: “We currently have a recruitment drive going on so hopefully we can get some good people into the business.

“We have received a large investment in the past year or so and we are planning to double or triple the company in the next one or two years.

“So this award will really, really help us get our name in lights just a wee bit more and hopefully bring in and maintain the talent to sustain the business.”
