More choice for NDT and Inspection Technicians

Argyll-Ruane Ltd, which operates from four UK centres – with multiple PCN examination delivery points in the UK, and covering Europe through to the Far East via partnering BINDT accredited trainers – has spent 2011 undertaking multiple new projects, including a new centre location (Advanced Manufacturing Park, Rotherham), existing centre upgrades – new practical radiography cell, additional resources, eddy current and computerised radiography resources, a new penetrant line, AGR UT TOFD and phased array equipment… and that’s just the start! The ARL centres now hold multiple training centre and test centre approvals, including British Accreditation Council (BAC), providing access to the UK for overseas students, Nuclear Skills Council employer nominated status, as well as all the existing BINDT/ICorr accreditations. This is providing access to all markets for the ARL training, certification and consultancy work it undertakes worldwide.
New courses and examinations are now coming into place, including UT TOFD, UT phased array, computerised radiography and interpretation, cathodic protection and painting inspection, to name but six new developments. The key words at ARL are customer care, multiple access to ARL resources and being as cost-effective as possible.
In addition to all these events, ARL is on a major staff recruitment drive to meet the increasing demand for services. Existing staff have been extremely busy, not only increasing their certification but five of the staff have completed their BSc in NDT via Northampton University.
For 2012, ARL has put together some special training and certification options at reduced rates, ranging from individual course/exam options through to long-term (up to 26 weeks) programmes.
One final piece of breaking staff news is that, for his service to ASNT, David Griffin has been awarded Fellow status of ASNT (the only individual outside of the US at the 2011 Fall Conference to achieve this honour).
