Institute of Corrosion runs free Risk Based Inspection seminar

23/01/2008

The Institute of Corrosion (IOC) has announced that it has organised a free seminar covering the increasingly key discipline of Risk Based Inspection of assets. The seminar is being held on Monday 28th January 2008 in Warrington, Cheshire and places are free.

Risk based inspection is rapidly becoming the standard mechanism for the risk management of integrity issues. The seminar will provide an introduction to risk based inspection planning techniques of assets and the underlying software which is used to plan inspection activities based on risk as opposed to time based systems. Risk based inspection planning techniques are able to rank equipment items in terms of their criticality with respect to their impact on safety, the environment and economics should they fail in service.

The risk ranking process allows inspection activities to be identified which focus on high criticality equipment items. The timely inspection of such equipment items provides reassurance to operators that the condition of the plant remains satisfactory and allows action to be taken to control equipment deterioration before it becomes an issue.

The seminar is being held on Monday, 28th January 2008 at the Paddington House Hotel in Warrington, Cheshire. The event is free and will run from 7 - 8.30pm. Free refreshments will be made available to all attendees.
