A huge success for the BINDT Roadshow

Roger Lyon reports
Rolls-Royce had a number of NDT engineers who wanted to know more about The British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT) and the services it offers. Instead of every interested person approaching BINDT individually, Dr Iain Baillie, Team Leader, NDE Laboratory, approached the Institute with a view to staging a BINDT Roadshow for Rolls-Royce personnel at Derby.
Matt Gallagher and Roger Lyon responded positively to this request and put together a series of presentations, which covered ‘Knowledge of BINDT’, ‘The Integrated Education Programme’, ‘Membership of BINDT’ and ‘Engineering Registration’. The Roadshow was presented on 27 October 2011 in Derby and was considered to be a huge success. Following the presentations, Matt and Roger conducted one-to-one sessions for individuals who wanted to explain their own circumstances and explore what opportunities were available to them.
Iain Baillie subsequently provided feedback on the Roadshow, which was predominantly positive, the highlights being the presentations and discussions on membership and Engineering Council registration. Iain said: “More or less everyone said the same thing, so overall it was very positive indeed and people thought it was a good use of their time.”
BINDT is committed to supporting its members and Associate Members and would encourage other companies to host a BINDT Roadshow. Roadshows can be specifically designed to suit the host company’s needs and to concentrate on what the host company is trying to achieve. This would be an opportunity for members to discuss issues with senior staff from BINDT headquarters and to get expert advice, first hand.
