First Class BSc in NDT for TWI Aberdeen Manager

11/01/2012

Bill Brown, TWI’s Aberdeen Training Centre Manager, has recently been awarded a First Class BSc in Non-Destructive Testing by the University of Northampton. The University of Northampton has introduced two courses in non-destructive testing: the Foundation degree in 2007 and its BSc (Hons) top-up degree in 2009.

The courses are designed to enable NDT practitioners to enhance their career paths by studying relevant subjects, such as visual testing, ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing and eddy current testing, in the Foundation degree level, followed by an additional two years involving the study of an additional four modules, including advanced NDT techniques such as phased array and remote field eddy current testing together with modules on condition monitoring methods, thermographic imaging and corrosion analysis. These, together with a specific work-related project, lead to the award of a BSc (Hons) in Non-Destructive Testing.

February 2012 will mark the initial graduation of successful candidates being awarded the degree.
