Great success for first PCN-accredited phased array course from TWI

09/03/2010

The addition of PCN certification, following the global success of CSWIP-certified courses, has been well received and attracted candidates from the UK, mainland Europe and Australia.

Customers' feedback from recent courses highlighted the benefits of being offered a choice of equipment (AGR, Olympus or Harfang), coupled with training resources that both challenged and honed their skills of weld inspection.

Lecturers readily accommodate multi-equipment practical sessions, thus enabling candidates to gain confidence and competence on the equipment they will subsequently come to use in their daily business.

As well as good quality inspection equipment and training, an equally important resource is accurate training and exam samples. TWI manufactures these internally, thus ensuring good quality control. In recent months, specifically to meet its PCN commitment, new batches of training and exam samples have been fabricated solely by Gerald (Geordie) Dixon, an accomplished craftsman in weld defect representation.

TWI Training & Examination Services is staffed by team players, many of whom are working behind the scenes, ensuring that both lecturers and candidates are supported before and throughout the courses.

One recent candidate said of the course: "Thanks from Integrity NDT to the team at TWI for a highly instructive phased array course; the lecturer integrated the requirements of individuals using different systems seamlessly into the syllabus of the course."

Another commented on the "friendly and professional atmosphere, excellent facilities, choice of equipment, plus excellent variety of samples, and individual workstations."

This multi-equipment 'Manual & Encoded Phased Array Inspection of Welds'  course is available at Abington (near Cambridge), Middlesbrough, Aberdeen and Port Talbot. TWI also offers equipment-specific courses tailored to the customer's requirements.
