In Southampton, a new laboratory will be set up for mechanical testing, covering aerospace and future UKAS work. Additionally at this site, along with training rooms, offices have been allocated for the welding inspectors (designated Responsible Welding Co-ordinators) and fairground inspectors, following a rapid expansion in these industries.
From Bournemouth, NDT personnel will cover the increased workload in the west of England and support the existing contracts in the south and east of England. Currently, in-house radiography is not carried out here.
As an independent testing authority, Ultramag holds ISO 9001:2008 and meets the requirements of EN 45004/ISO 17020, offering a high-quality service to a broad range of industries, with nearly 40 years of experience. Ultramag is an associate member of The British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing and a member of the Institute’s Service Inspection Group.
Approvals are held for thickness measurements of hull structures from Det Norske Veritas, Bureau Veritas and Germanischer Lloyd.
