Aerospace demand continues for Midas
29/05/2007
With the demand for inspection equipment in the aerospace sector continuing at record levels, Midas NDT has commissioned two major systems during May of this year, with simultaneous installations at aerospace component manufacturers in Spain and South Korea.
The system was designed for the fully automated inspection of wing structures up to fifteen metres in length and is capable of following all necessary curves.

In South Korea, a 12,000 mm x 2400 mm x 1000 mm seven-axis dual-channel through-transmission jet-probe system was installed at a company manufacturing structural components for Boeing aircraft.
This system was designed for the fully automated inspection of composite structures up to ten metres in length and is capable of following all necessary curves using two channels of ultrasonics (two sets of probes), thus halving inspection times.

Despite the size of the equipment, this system was air-freighted to Korea to meet urgent customer requirements, the equipment being designed, manufactured and delivered within six months.
Both systems, equipped with the very latest Midas NDT hardware, software and ultrasonic instrumentation, were designed, manufactured, installed and commissioned as part of turn-key operations with Midas NDT technicians supplying complete training on all aspects of the equipment.
The factory space vacated by delivery of these systems has already been taken with manufacturing work already underway on three major new system orders, including a large ten-axis jet-probe inspection system for the inspection of complex double-curved components.
Midas NDT Systems is a company dedicated to the design, manufacture and worldwide supply of automated ultrasonic inspection systems. Offering a turnkey solution, Midas NDT manufactures all aspects including the mechanical system, electronics, software, ultrasonics and transducers.
