TWI welcomes students from Equatorial Guinea

24/05/2011

Eight students sponsored by the Equatorial Guinea Ministry of Mines, Industry and Energy are attending a five-week training programme at TWI Middlesbrough.

The programme is designed to cover the disciplines encompassed by third-party inspectors of oil and gas processing plants. These are welding inspection, visual inspection together with paint and coating inspection, and an appreciation of NDE methods employed in that industry.

The main objective is to develop the students’ in-service inspection skills so that they can start on a clear career path which would allow them entry onto a CSWIP Plant Inspection Level 1 training programme.

When they return to Equatorial Guinea, the students will gain more practical experience by working in industry. Their final goal is to become third-party inspectors for the above mentioned ministry.
