Olympus holds UK-wide launch of new PA and TOFD products
17/05/2013
Autumn 2012 saw the launch of new PA and UT modules for the Olympus OmniScan MX2, as a follow up to the successful introduction of the MX2 in 2011, which redefined the standard of in-field portable PA equipment. To complement the new modules, Olympus has also introduced a new software tool for inspection design – the Olympus NDT Setup Builder, as well as a new data analysis package – OmniPC. The benefit is that a complete inspection can now be exported from NDT Setup Builder to the MX2, thus minimising operator inputs and reducing inspection set-up time. Once the inspection data is acquired, this can then be directly exported to OmniPC and analysed without time-consuming file conversion. Finally, reporting is included onboard the MX2 and OmniPC and therefore a true end-to-end solution is provided, from inspection design through to reporting, and one which allows Olympus to penetrate the power industry market. In order to maximise the exposure of these new products to existing and potential new customers, a series of launch forums were arranged around the UK and Ireland by the Olympus Territory Managers, which were supported by their respective Advanced Product Specialists. The forums were held in strategic locations to the customer base, including MTC Coventry, AMRC Rotherham, NCC Bristol, NCC Belfast, Dublin and Olympus Bolton, as well as a number of hotels and a two-day BINDT event in Aberdeen. The format of the event included a presentation highlighting the new products, followed by practical demonstrations of the new software packages and hardware components, together with an opportunity for hands-on sessions for customers. Probably the most significant changes, which received excellent feedback, were the improvements Olympus has made to the OmniScan MX2 TOFD capability, and the ability to export inspection set-ups directly into the MX2, entitled ‘Connectivity’.
