Verasonics expands management team focusing on advancement of innovation in research ultrasound

Verasonics Inc, a leader in research ultrasound, has announced the expansion of its management team with the appointments of Christian Coviello PhD as Director of Ultrasound Science and Andrew Lundberg as Director of Hardware Engineering and Operations. These strategic leadership additions to the management team affirm the company’s strong focus on the importance of innovation advancement in research ultrasound.

“Verasonics is laser-focused on enabling researchers and developers to break barriers in ultrasonic science via novel capabilities with the Vantage NXT research ultrasound platform,” said Jon K Daigle, President and Chief Executive Officer at Verasonics. “With the evolution of our Ultrasound Science Team, which is now ten expert scientists strong, and the expanded focus on engineering and operations, we continue on our mission to enable our customers and to advance ultrasound research and development.”

Jon added: “The additions of Christian and Andrew to our team enhance the deep expertise resident in our research and development teams. Christian is leading our ultrasound innovation activities and growing relationships with our Scientific Advisory Board members, as well as industry leaders. Andrew’s extensive skill set allows the organisation to expand hardware engineering and operational efficiencies through stronger processes and procedures. Together, they are focused on advancing Vantage research platform capabilities.”

Christian holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Pennsylvania State University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Bucknell University, both in electrical engineering. Most recently, he served as Chief Technology Officer at OxSonics Therapeutics, a spin-out company he co-founded focused on ultrasound-enhanced drug delivery. Prior to OxSonics, Christian was a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Oxford and a senior scientist with SAIC (Leidos) in the Advanced Systems and Technology Division working on image and signal processing algorithm development. He currently serves on the Board of the International Society for Therapeutic Ultrasound (ISTU) and is a member of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Cavitation Standard Project Team.

Andrew holds a Master’s degree in medical engineering and a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the University of Washington. He is an engineering leader with over 26 years’ experience in the design of medical ultrasound systems. Prior to Verasonics, Andrew was Director of Hardware Engineering at Fujifilm SonoSite. He held several other pivotal engineering roles during his tenure at the company.
