IMechE Engineering Training Solutions and Eddyfi to launch pulsed eddy current course at corrosion event

04/11/2016

Inspecting and managing corrosion under insulation (CUI) is still a major issue facing asset integrity. In light of this and the unrivalled success of Eddyfi’s recently released Lyft™ system, IMechE Engineering Training Solutions (IMechE ETS) has developed a course with Eddyfi that provides an appreciation for the use of pulsed eddy current (PEC) in combating CUI. Dates for the 2017 training schedule are now available.

Developed in collaboration with Eddyfi, which involved a tutor from IMechE ETS visiting the Eddyfi site in Québec, Canada, the course will provide those attending with a level of understanding of PEC and CUI. Focusing on the Eddyfi Lyft system, the course will also be beneficial to those who have recently purchased or are looking to purchase the equipment, as it will look at calibration of the system, as well as its benefits and limitations.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to gain practical experience on a mixture of heavily corroded and decommissioned pipe, as well as dedicated samples manufactured by Sonaspection, IMechE ETS’s sister company.

Those interested in the new course can find out more at the upcoming Corrosion: Inspection and Prevention event, to be held 1-2 December 2016 at the IMechE Engineering Training Centre in Sheffield.

The event will feature talks from key opinion leaders such as Eddyfi, BINDT, the Institute of Corrosion and EEMUA, with an exhibition featuring Olympus, Sonatest, Elcometer, Phoenix ISL and Johnson & Allen. There will also be a dedicated area for in-depth practical demonstrations and a tour of the adjacent Factory 2050, where attendees will be able to view the research facility’s next generation developments. Tickets are priced at £40 + VAT per person for the two days, with refreshments provided and free car parking on site. CPD renewal points are also available.
