ESR Technology has announced the appointment of Martyn Foote as General Manager of its Aberdeen operation.

Known in the oil and gas industry as a leading authority on health and safety issues, Martyn joins ESR Technology at a time of strong growth for the company. He will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the company's Aberdeen team and the successful delivery of safety consultancy services to clients in the region.

Martyn began his career with the Royal Navy, serving 12 years as a Marine Engineer before moving into the oil and gas industry in 1985 as a Maintenance Superintendant at Transworld Drilling. He later transferred to production operations with Texaco and was working on a platform neighbouring Piper Alpha on the night of the disaster. This experience was a key factor in his drive to improve health and safety procedures and training globally.

For the past 11 years Martyn has been with Cresent, a safety management, training, e-learning and multimedia services company based in Aberdeen, where he was a Director delivering projects for international clients. He has also worked closely with the HSE on developing guidelines for the safe isolation of plant and equipment.

"We are delighted to have Martyn join us," said Pat Lawless, CEO of ESR Technology. "We look forward to deploying his skills and experience, especially in relation to safety management where he will strengthen our oil and gas proposition."

In another development, ESR Technology has appointed Malcolm McLean as a Principal Safety and Risk Consultant.

Based at the company's Aberdeen operation, Malcolm will be responsible for the delivery of a range of specialist safety and risk consultancy services to support oil and gas clients in the region.

Malcolm brings to ESR Technology over 20 years' experience managing and implementing safety-related projects in the construction, process and offshore industries. He joins from Cresent, where he was an HSE Consultant conducting audits, inspections, investigations and safety training programmes for a range of clients. Prior to this he held senior safety consultant roles with Odfjell, was an HSEQ Manager with Seawell, Lloyd's Register and DNV and also served as an Offshore Inspector with the Health and Safety Executive.

"Malcolm has enormous experience of the North Sea oil and gas industry," said Jim Thomson, ESR Technology's Head of Technical Services. "Having worked on major projects as an Offshore Installation Manager and as an HSE Inspector, he will make a very valuable contribution to our Aberdeen team."

Finally for now, ESR has announced the appointment of Steve Ballantyne as an Asset Integrity Consultant.

Based at the company's Aberdeen operation, Steve will be responsible for the delivery of a range of asset integrity related services to organisations in the region.

He joins ESR Technology from Baker Hughes, where he worked as a Reliability Engineer for nine years. During that time he was involved with several global projects which included providing training and new technology introductions in Singapore, Australia, Nigeria and Angola.  Most recently he spearheaded major reliability projects for companies in Saudi Arabia.

Steve brings to ESR Technology a broad range of technical skills including asset integrity management, reliability analysis and strategy, maintenance management, root cause failure analysis, business process optimisation, statistical analysis and quality management.

"Steve is a very welcome addition to our growing team," said Jim Thomson. "He brings a broad range of international experience of oil and gas asset integrity management to our portfolio of skills."
