SGS to conduct AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) training course and examination session in Ho Chi Minh City

As the ability to accurately size and monitor discontinuities in welds is of utmost importance for various industries, including oil and gas, renewable energy and construction, companies require certification of their inspectors to be able to perform a professional and reliable welding inspection.To meet the high demand for welding inspection skills on the market, SGS Industrial Services has organised an AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) training course and examination session in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on 4-11 October 2010.
The training programme prepares candidates for the AWS Certified Welding Inspector examination. Participants will have a unique chance to receive comprehensive welding inspection training and undertake practical exercises in welding processes and procedures, certified by the American Welding Society (AWS). This training includes, among other topics, welding inspection technology, visual inspection and other NDT methods. Aimed at personnel with work experience from the Welding Inspection and Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) departments, including inspectors, supervisors, engineers and NDT professionals, the course will also provide interesting information about safe practices for welding inspectors and relevant documents governing welding inspection and qualification.
Since 2005, SGS has been an authorised agent of the American Welding Society and trains and certifies welding inspectors on behalf of AWS. The AWS is a non-profit making organisation which aims to advance the science, technology and application of welding and related joining disciplines. The AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification is a widely recognised qualification, accepted worldwide in the welding and QA/QC industry due to stringent requirements. Industry professionals who qualify for CWI are highly regarded at both a national and an international level.
SGS Industrial Services offers Welding Inspector Training certified by the American Welding Society (AWS) on a regular basis. For 2010, SGS has scheduled nine Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) courses and certification exams in Colombia, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Spain.
