Inspection specialist AISUS Offshore on track for successful first year
09/10/2013
Inspection specialist AISUS Offshore is on target to achieve a first-year turnover in the region of £1 million after securing a range of high-value contracts.
Leading the company’s growth are Business Development Director Stuart Lawson, Offshore Operations Director Andrew Johnston, Onshore Operations Director Martin Thomson, Technical Director Mat Meredith and Company Director Angela Milne.
AISUS Offshore has offices and workshop facilities with a combined floor space of 232 square metres at Aberdeen’s Technology Park, Bridge of Don, and currently employs six people.
Mr Lawson, who previously worked as a Senior Inspection Coordinator at Stork Technical Services, said: “Between us we have more than 25 years’ combined experience in providing internal remote inspection services and through AISUS Offshore we are building on this to pioneer new technology and techniques.”
AISUS Offshore offers four core services – remote visual inspection, remote ultrasonic inspection, dropped/foreign object retrieval and fluid sampling – and has already developed bespoke technology to streamline delivery.
The AISUS SIRIUS tool – Specialist Internal Remote Inspection Ultrasonic Scanner – overcomes common obstacles found during caisson and riser inspections, such as varying internal diameters, swage repairs and merlin connectors. The SIRIUS tool maintains data accuracy by remotely adjusting the probe stand-off distance to ensure optimum focal distance.
Developed to work in unison with SIRIUS, the portable TUC (Topside Ultrasonic Controller) houses all motion control, power and ultrasonic instrumentation within a watertight Peli case and features powerful inspection software allowing tailored data reporting and presentation.
The AISUS Offshore team has also developed a sampling tool that allows fluid samples to be collected remotely from pipework at a range of depths.
Mr Lawson continued: “We are already developing the next version of the SIRIUS tool for use where the minimum internal diameter is less than 24" and we’re constantly exploring new ways of reducing inspection durations and increasing inspection coverage and accuracy.”
He added: “We are currently recruiting and anticipate increasing our team in the coming months and are exploring employing both qualified field engineers and graduate trainees.”
