21/09/2007

iicorr Ltd has secured a major integrity management contract with Dutch gas network operator, Gasunie, the major shareholder in the BBL Company for the newly laid BBL pipeline. The contract is valued at £600,000 in its first year with excellent prospects for long-term extension.

The 36-inch diameter 230 km-long pipeline accounts for 15% of the UK gas requirement and runs from Balgzand in the Netherlands to Bacton in Norfolk, England. iicorr's work includes the development of integrity strategies and inspection and monitoring plans – all essential to help protect the vital supplies the pipeline provides. Fugro Survey has been sub-contracted by iicorr to deliver pipeline surveys.

Mark Wilson, Technical Director, iicorr said: "We are delighted to have secured this contract with the BBL Company through Gasunie. iicorr's scope of expertise in integrity management is essential for the maintenance of the BBL pipeline and helps to ensure gas supplies to the UK are preserved. This year has been an incredible success for the company – we have doubled our workforce by recruiting over 70 people and internationally, the requirement for our services is growing rapidly."
