22/09/2014

Ashtead Technology recently hosted an NDT Technology Day at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in Coventry. The event was free to attend and included presentations by Ashtead Technology, Eddyfi and Rolls-Royce.

The day was extremely successful, providing attendees with an opportunity to learn about the latest NDT equipment/technology and also to receive one-to-one advice on which products would be relevant for their applications.

The day began with an explanation of the ethos behind Ashtead Technology’s NDT Centre of Excellence by Neil Harrap, the company’s NDT Market Manager: “We aim to provide the customer with the best solution for their application and we achieve this by continuous investment in the latest technologies and the resources required to deliver excellent support.”

Aaron Greenbank from EddyFi then provided information on the Ectane and its vast inspection capabilities. The presentation included case studies and an in-depth discussion of the various probes available for the tube testing and surface inspection system.

Kit Lane from Rolls-Royce provided details of a case study in which he and his colleagues had worked closely with Eddyfi to develop an inspection probe with an L-shaped hinged design to improve inspection speeds.

After lunch, practical demonstrations for the Ectane, Olympus Chain Scanner, ETher Weldcheck, Olympus MX2 and Sonatest Sitescan D20+ took place and attendees were also offered the opportunity to discuss their own application requirements and receive instrumentation advice from Neil and Aaron.
