All-in-one condition monitoring system for e-chains

Anew Igus communication module combines sensors with its service to enable real-time condition monitoring.
Inside the new iComm box communication module, Igus i.Sense condition monitoring sensors are integrated into superwise, a new Igus service designed to help protect users from unexpected failures in e-chain applications.
The solution uses algorithms to provide analyses of the condition of the machines and systems. The superwise dashboard provides information in real time and enables optimal monitoring and control.
Igus has offered i.Sense sensors for several years, which monitor the condition of moving machine components such as energy chains, cables, linear guides and plain and spherical bearings, as well as slewing ring bearings. In the event of an anomaly, the sensors trigger a message or an automatic system stop to avoid damage.
The new iComm box expands the functionality of the sensors by connecting them to the superwise service, enabling fast and reliable data transmission. All messages are stored with measured values and can be referenced later for diagnostic purposes.
Firstly, intelligent algorithms use the sensor data to calculate the movement profile of an energy chain, for example. Based on the analysis, precise predictions can be made about the condition of the chain. A dashboard clearly displays real-time information on service life, maintenance recommendations or information in the event of anomalies.
