Trade and Industry Group report

A meeting of the Trade and Industry Group took place in Northampton at BINDT headquarters on 19 May 2015. During a lively and well-attended meeting, the following topics were discussed:

• Two additional seminars have been arranged with the East Midlands University Association (EMUA) and the Forum for Engineering Integrity (FESI). These will run in parallel with the NDT 2015/MT 2015 event, one seminar on the Tuesday and the other on the Wednesday, hopefully attracting an additional 50 people each.
• On Tuesday 8 September, over 300 attendees are expected to attend Materials Testing 2015, including the exhibitors and conference attendees.
• The Bloodhound SSC Show Car will be available at the Materials Testing Exhibition and a presentation will be held on the evening of Tuesday 8 September, including dinner and a drink.
• The Bloodhound networking event on the Tuesday evening will be open to conference delegates and exhibitors (a maximum of one, two or four people for small, medium and large stands, respectively) and those who pre-register, subject to availability. There will be opportunities to visit the exhibition and see the Bloodhound SSC Show Car as well as a presentation on this exciting project, which will be attempting to set a new land-speed record. This will be a unique chance for people from the NDT sector to see and hear about the Bloodhound project, to get up-to-date with the latest developments within the industry and to meet fellow industry colleagues. A two-course meal and voucher for one drink will be included. A cash bar will be available.
  
  
  • Exhibition and Bloodhound viewing: 5.00-6.00 pm
  • Food and drink: 6.00-7.30 pm
  • Bloodhound presentation: 7.30-8.30 pm.

• The CM Conference took place on 9-11 June 2015 and the NDT Technical Committee had a session that ran at this event, along with some practical workshops.
• The Aerospace Event this year went well with 122 attendees on the first day and 120 on the second day of the event. 
• A Composites Event will be organised, probably between October and December, with the NCC in Coventry being suggested as the venue.
  
• A meeting of the BSI Working Group has been held with a Chair and Vice Chair being elected.
