General summary:
The successful Quality Control NDT Technicians will undertake process and product verification in line with company systems, regulatory requirements and management direction to ensure parts are fully in accordance with contractual requirements and the company’s quality management system. This will cover all product lines that are purchased, manufactured, assembled and serviced within the Glasgow (Cathcart) facility, working in accordance with company policies and procedures to meet external regulations and deliver standards such as: EN 9712 (PCN), ISO 9001, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Certificates of Authorisation and SNT-TC-1A.

Principal duties and responsibilities:
  • Conduct all activities while maintaining the highest level of ethics and integrity
  • Verify products manufactured, purchased or assembled, in accordance with applicable drawings, procedures, route cards or other forms of detailed instruction
  • Maintain self-capability as part of the quality control team, being flexible to meet business needs in accordance with company procedures and legislative requirements
  • Ensure best practices are followed in the selection of appropriate quality control (QC)/non-destructive evaluation (NDE) techniques and processes
  • Ensure compliance with non-conformance report (NCR) processes for quality disposition of non-conforming products
  • Ensure quality control areas are presented to the highest standard at all times
  • Undertake random QC checks to ensure that procedures are being followed in line with quality management system (QMS) and/or customer requirements
  • Coordinate with internal departments to identify, define and resolve product quality problems while providing advice, guidance and support on all aspects concerning NDE
  • Support product-related incident investigations, assisting where applicable so lessons are established, learned and implemented so that there are no repeat incidents
  • Support the review and development of quality procedures and standards in line with legislative or best practice changes
  • Promote company quality standards and culture with customers
  • Issue accurate technical documentation for customers, aimed at verifying the organisation’s product reliability, safety and guarantee, ie inspection reports, hydrotest certificates, NDE reports, etc
  • Participate in improvement projects to improve the efficiency and accuracy of all operational disciplines.

  • Perform all duties in accordance with the company’s procedures in order to deliver and maintain the highest standards of ethical behaviours and be a role model for others
  • Commit to training others to ensure workforce flexibility and meet business demands
  • Create and maintain good working relationships
  • Understand and use correct reporting lines
  • Employees are expected to work whatever reasonable hours are necessary to meet the requirements of their job and travel to sister, vendor or customer sites. Additional duties may be required on an ad-hoc basis, so a degree of flexibility is required.
Education and experience:
  • EN 9712 (PCN) Level 2 qualification in a minimum of three disciplines:
  • Sector 5, Method 24 – Ultrasonic testing
  • Sector 2, Method 21 – Magnetic particle testing
  • Sector 2, Method 22 – Liquid penetrant testing
  • Sector 6, Method 25 – Radiography
  • Sector 6, Method 23 – Visual testing
  • Certification Scheme for Welding Inspection Personnel (CSWIP) 3.1 Visual testing.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Good communication (both written and oral), influencing and interpersonal skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • High degree of integrity with highly professional conduct
  • Able to work under own initiative with limited supervision
  • High capability level in the application of quality control/NDE processes and techniques
  • Working knowledge of company SAP system appropriate to function is desirable
  • Basic level of computer proficiency
  • Experience of ISO 9001, NQA-1, ASME codes and standards, RCC-M, SNT-TC-1A and EN ISO 9712 is desirable
  • Basic knowledge of environmental, health and safety principles (EHS)is desirable.
Key measurements:
  • Process compliance in relation to route cards and SAP transactions
  • Accuracy on completion of contract documentation
  • Maintenance of records to demonstrate proficiencies in NDE disciplines.
