Welding, NDT and Coatings Inspector

An exciting opportunity for a Welding, NDT and Coatings Inspector working in a quality department has arisen. The role, based in Chester, involves close collaboration with external suppliers and internal quality and production teams. The primary focus is to ensure the delivery of conforming products through anticipatory, monitoring and improvement actions with suppliers.

This role is ideal for individuals with in-depth knowledge in technical fields such as mechanics, welding, materials and control, along with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Candidates with strong interpersonal skills, a keen eye for detail and experience in the nuclear or oil & gas industry will thrive in this dynamic position.

The successful candidate must hold PCN Level 2 in penetrant testing (PT) and magnetic testing (MT), Certification Scheme for Personnel (CSWIP) 3.1 and a painting/coatings certificate.

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct raw material inspections on site and at supplier locations
• Perform welding, non-destructive testing (NDT) and painting/coatings inspections as needed
• Generate and review documentation, procedures and release certificates
• Review lifetime quality records (LTQRs)
• Ensure compliance of controlling documents at all manufacturing stages.

Requirements:

• PCN Level 2 in penetrant testing and magnetic particle testing
• CSWIP 3.1
• Painting and coating certification: British Gas Approval Scheme, (BGAS), Coating Inspector Program (CIP), Institute of Corrosion (ICorr), National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) or similar
• Experience within nuclear or Ministry of Defence (MOD) highly advantageous
• Experience with LTQRs is preferred.

Pay rate:

• £32.50 per hour – PAYE
• £45.00 per hour – Umbrella, plus mileage.

This is a contract-based position, with a permanent position on offer if preferred.
