Winners
2024/2025 winner: Dillan Trigg
The NDT Engineering Technician of the Year Award for 2024/2025 has been won by Dillan Trigg.

Before starting his journey through non-destructive testing (NDT), Dillan’s background was mostly in engineering, completing his Higher National Certificate (HNC) in electrical engineering.
His NDT journey began in January 2023 as a Level 3 NDT Engineering Technician apprentice with TesTex NDT Ltd. He started learning the basics of NDT straight away, working with experienced field technicians on mainly in-service ageing assets. Even with the intensity of the work at TesTex, they still found time to allocate resources to enable comprehensive training and ensure all inspections were completed to the highest standard.
Dillan then completed his first PCN Level 2 in magnetic particle inspection and passed with a distinction.
Due to external circumstances, his apprenticeship was moved over to Lavender International in October 2023. Lavender International wasted no time getting his apprenticeship back on track, with weekly sessions both online and in person.
This led Dillan to complete his eddy current welds Level 2 and liquid penetrant inspection Level 2 in 2024, achieving a distinction in both qualifications. Alongside this, he continued to work hard for TesTex, gaining experience and further knowledge from his peers out in the field.
Dillan also completed his ultrasonic thickness and lamination testing Level 2 with Lavender, which was funded by the company, and he also passed this with a distinction.
Fast forward to March 2025 and, with Lavender guiding him through the modules, Dillan completed the end-point assessment (EPA) and in doing so completed his apprenticeship, also with a distinction.
TesTex NDT was very pleased with Dillan’s progress throughout the two years that he had been within the industry and he became a fully qualified NDT Technician.
In 2024, he was voted Apprentice of the Year by TesTex management and peers.
Now, having completed his EPA and apprenticeship, Dillan has started to get involved in the training and mentoring of new starter apprentices, which he thoroughly enjoys.
The experience and skills he has gained would not be possible without the help of his colleagues at TesTex and the team at Lavender International.
