Fusion reactor developers come to TWI for NDT training

10/04/2015

Engineers from Fusion for Energy (F4E) recently attended a four-day training workshop covering advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques with TWI.

The bespoke course, which took place at TWI’s Great Abington headquarters, covered a broad range of NDT-related topics, including typical welding process faults, NDT procedure and report requirements, relevant standards, validation processes and personnel certification.

Fourteen engineers from F4E took part in the workshop, after the organisation approached TWI in search of training that would provide its personnel with a better understanding of some of the issues associated with advanced NDT inspection.

F4E is part of an international scientific experiment, combining the expertise and resources of countries representing half the world’s population, seeking to develop viable fusion reactors.

TWI is a research and technology organisation specialising in joining, integrity management and materials technologies. It also delivers training and certification and is one of the world’s largest providers of training in welding, welding inspection and non-destructive testing.
