Argyll-Ruane celebrates 30th anniversary with move to new facility

11/08/2015

This year, Argyll-Ruane (ARL), owned by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), is celebrating its 30th anniversary and will be moving to new premises at Sheffield Business Park.

The site will be the main venue for ARL’s NDT and inspection training in the UK. All three of the current sites across Rotherham and Sheffield will relocate to the one facility, increasing the floor space from 6900 to 16,900 sq ft.

The new Academy will also act as a centre for the Institution’s wider activities, complementing its London-based head office facilities.

Once redeveloped, the Academy will boast new equipment and specialist teaching facilities for dye penetrant, magnetic particle, phased array, TOFD, ultrasonics and ICorr courses. ARL’s full course provision and Level 3 services will be delivered and administered from additional facilities in the Academy, which include examination rooms, a large lecture theatre, break and social areas for delegates and a business centre for Institution members. Further catering improvements have been made to ensure that all attendees have access to hot and cold food and refreshments.

Sheffield Business Park is easily accessible from Junction 33 of the M1 and the site will have parking for over 75 vehicles.

Currently undergoing a major refit, the new facility will be welcoming delegates this September. Mark Dowell, Managing Director at ARL, said: “It has become evident in the last 18 months that our continued growth will be dependent on developing a modern, larger facility. The Academy at Sheffield Business Park will be exactly that. With the support of the Institution, we have the opportunity to make our NDT and inspection training capability even stronger. We will be better able to meet the growing and changing needs of our clients in an environment that is in keeping with their expectations.”
