Thomas Wenzel will lead Yxlon International

The Board of Directors of the Comet Group has appointed Thomas Wenzel as Head of the X-Ray Systems (IXS) Division, General Manager of Yxlon International and member of the Executive Committee of the Comet Group, which came into effect in December 2018. Following a comprehensive evaluation process, the Comet Group has thus selected an in-house candidate with 25 years of experience in the X-ray systems business.

In Thomas Wenzel, 53, a seasoned leader and proven expert in the business is taking the helm of the IXS Division. Holding a computer science degree and a PhD in engineering, Thomas has 15 years of management experience at the renowned Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits in Erlangen, Germany. There, he had strategic, scientific and financial responsibility for the Nanofocus System Engineering area and later for Process – Integrated Test Systems. Since 2015, Thomas has been Vice President, Technology, of the IXS Division and the Comet Group. Moreover, as Interim Head of Research & Development of the IXS Division, he has played a central role in advancing the development of this business in the recent months.

The Board of Directors and management are convinced that under the leadership of Thomas Wenzel, the IXS Division will be successfully developed and managed so as to generate value.

Thomas has taken over the management of the IXS Division from Matthias Barz, who led it since July 2018 as Interim Manager and who will continue to assist with the initiated measures until their completion.
