28/01/2015 New NDT Roadshow team members announced
The new NDT Roadshow team had its kick-off meeting on 23 October 2014 and planned the new season venues for 2015, which will be announced soon on the NDTR website. The new team members comprise representatives from the following leading NDT companies: Aegleteq, Baugh & Weedon, Carestream NDT, Eddyfi, ETher NDE, IMechE/Argyll-Ruane, Polytec, Proceq and Sonatest.

26/01/2015 Trade and Industry Group update
At the BINDT Annual Conference in Manchester in September 2014, the Trade and Industry Groups of the Institute, at their respective AGMs, agreed to merge and form the Trade and Industry Group. The purpose of this merger is to avoid duplication of effort and allow the new group to concentrate fully on its role within BINDT. Since its formation in 1989, the Institute’s Benevolent Fund has helped many members, ex-members and their dependants who have fallen on hard times. It is a longstop for people in difficulty or distress. The main reasons for people needing its assistance are sickness, bereavement and unemployment. It offers financial help, but its services go beyond this. When times are hard and misfortune strikes, a friendly word from a colleague means a great deal.

19/01/2015 Ultramag Inspection Services expands
After 40 years of NDT and weld inspection, Ultramag has expanded into three units in Southampton and one in Ferndown. Plans are for a new two-storey facility, which will cater for the continued growth in NDT, welding procedure qualification, welding consultancy, welder training, pressure testing and mechanical testing. This move will free up one unit, which will become a dedicated training centre for NDT, weld inspection, welding standards, health & safety and quality-related courses.

Engineering is vital to the wealth and well-being of every nation. Professional engineers and technicians fulfil important roles in society and take their responsibilities seriously. A Concordat, supported by The Royal Academy of Engineering (The Academy) in its role as lead of the Diversity in Engineering Programme and funded through the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, sets out the principles of a voluntary agreement between organisations involved at the heart of the engineering profession. It seeks to ensure that the profession properly reflects the society it serves and takes action to attract engineers from increasingly diverse backgrounds into professional membership and registration. In this way, the profession can capitalise on its diversity of thought, innovation and creativity.
