ASME to hold BPV Code, Section V: Nondestructive Examination Requirements course in London

For the first time in the UK, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is holding a course on the NDE requirements of its Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section V – Nondestructive Examination. The course, which is open to the public, will take place 17-21 February 2020 at Imparando, 56 Commercial Road, London E2 1LP.In the course content, emphasis is placed on basic procedures, techniques, applications, advantages and limitations as related to the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section V for each method.
Examples of NDE devices supplement the classroom lectures to enable the attendee to obtain a better understanding of the general theory, uses and variables of the methods presented. Each attendee will receive a copy of the Handbook of Nondestructive Evaluation, 2nd Edition, written by Charles Hellier.
The course will be of interest in particular to design, structural, maintenance and materials engineers and management, supervisors, regulators, auditors and project managers. Attendees will learn to:
- Describe the applications of the basic NDE methods and the various materials to be examined
- Explain the principles, procedures, evaluation, reporting and ASME Code requirements of the basic NDE methods
- Identify the techniques of the visual, penetrant, magnetic particle, radiographic, ultrasonic and eddy current testing methods.
