TSC Inspection Systems has announced the appointment of new CEO Chris Walters. Following the recent investment by Encore Capital LLP, the appointment of this key position is viewed to be the next step in the advanced NDT company’s strategic development.

Former Managing Director and joint owner of TSC Inspection Systems Dr David Topp stated: “I am delighted to welcome Chris into the business as Chief Executive Officer. He brings with him a wealth of experience and is looking forward to the challenge of continuing the growth of TSC Inspection Systems into new sectors and markets. His appointment means I can confidently step back from the day-to-day running of the business, knowing it’s in safe hands. I’m looking forward to supporting Chris as he develops the strategy and leads TSC through its transition from a product-based business to a more rounded technology and service provider.”

A naval architect and chartered engineer, Chris has a successful track record in driving innovation and leading business growth in the marine and oil & gas sectors, with extensive international experience from senior roles in Lloyd’s Register and the P&O Group.

“I am proud and honoured to join TSC and to be part of a talented team with an outstanding history and reputation in advanced NDT. Working with our experienced, highly-motivated staff and executive team, I am excited about leading the business to deliver growth in new and established markets,” stated Chris. He added: “Over the past 25 years, TSC’s ACFM® technology has played a major role in ensuring safety and structural integrity worldwide, especially in the offshore oil & gas sector. With the strong support of our investors, there is now a tremendous opportunity to expand our international operations and further support our customers with their subsea and onshore inspection campaigns.”

During the last twelve months there have been some important changes for TSC Inspection Systems, including a relocation of its headquarters in Milton Keynes to new premises with significant research & development facilities. New technical and operations centres have also been established in Aberdeen and Singapore, providing ACFM systems rental, certified operators and training services, enabling responsive service delivery and focused technical support to local customers.

“We are delighted to have Chris on board with TSC at such a pivotal point in the company’s development,” stated Dimitri Tzililis, Partner at Encore Capital. “The challenging operating environment has produced many opportunities for TSC to offer cost-effective inspection solutions to a growing global customer base. Chris will oversee the deployment of our new service-centric offering, as well as the expansion to new territories, including Southeast Asia and the Americas. TSC Inspection Systems is Encore’s key investment in the advanced engineering space, with significant capital behind it to support organic and inorganic growth. We have the highest level of confidence in Chris and believe his leadership will further expand TSC’s impressive record of innovation and continued value creation.”

TSC Inspection Systems provides advanced NDT solutions, founded on its unique and patented ACFM technology. The ACFM technique detects surface-breaking cracks in metallic structures and components, without the need to remove protected coatings, therefore minimising downtime for critical operations. ACFM technology is said to be one of the world’s most reliable NDT methods, producing an audit-trail that makes the inspection process significantly more robust than traditional methods.
