New premises and rebrand for Argyll-Ruane
17/11/2015

IMechE’s new centre will become the principal training and examination centre for Argyll-Ruane Ltd (ARL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Institution, while training at the existing facility in Halesowen, West Midlands, continues.
It was also announced that from January 2016 Argyll-Ruane Ltd will be rebranded as Engineering Training Solutions, a new offering from the Institution providing a coherent approach to NDT and corrosion training and Level 3 consultancy alongside its wider operations. Following the complete refurbishment of the building, the Engineering Training Centre boasts brand new and up-to-date equipment for ARL’s full range of NDT and inspection courses, as well as significant improvements to the wider learning experience, including a large seating area with televisions for breaks, free lunches and ample free parking.
Professor Richard Folkson said: “The launch of this new training centre is an exciting step for the Institution that will allow us to provide a greater number of courses and better quality NDT training and certification. I’m looking forward to seeing all the innovative and thought-provoking work that will take place in these new facilities over the coming years.”
Replacing existing offices in Sheffield and Rotherham, the expansion increases the teaching and learning space by nearly three times to 16,900 sq ft.
The building will house unique teaching facilities for a range of disciplines, as well as meeting and conference facilities and Level 3 consultancy support. Alongside the training and certification operations there will also be a business centre for the Institution’s members, as well as a large lecture theatre for seminars and events.
The special event was attended by a wide range of guests from the NDT industry and beyond. The day began with informative talks on the company’s latest developments and tours of the facility, followed by a champagne reception and then an evening of entertainment comprising live music and a close-up magician.
