Applus+ awarded five-year contract for facility NDT and inspection in Canada

Applus+ has been awarded a contract for the provision of non-destructive testing (NDT) and inspection services by a leading Canadian operator with facilities throughout Canada. The scope of work entails turnkey delivery of a complete portfolio of integrity assurance services, including conventional NDT, advanced NDT, code compliance inspections, rope access services, thermography and other related support activities. The inspections will assess the integrity of various refining facility assets including pipelines, storage tanks, terminal piping and pressure vessels.
Applus+ technicians will inspect the assets using a variety of conventional and advanced inspection techniques, including radiography, magnetic particle testing, dye penetrant testing, ultrasonic testing and visual inspection. Inspection will be performed both on-stream (in-service) and off-stream (out-of-service), and in some cases deployed via rope access.
Alongside the delivery of conventional NDT services, Applus+ will also perform advanced ultrasonic testing including phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT), time-of-flight diffraction (TOFD) and guided wave ultrasonic inspection.
Ultrasonic testing uses high-frequency sound energy to perform examinations and take measurements. This method of testing can be used to inspect for dimensional measurements, thickness, material characterisation, flaw detection and more. Ultrasonic testing can be used at any point in the lifecycle of an asset or component, from inspection of plates, forgings, castings or welded components to in-service corrosion monitoring.
