IMechE Argyll Ruane Level 3 Services working smart during the pandemic

Established in February 1999 by David Griffin, IMechE Argyll Ruane’s Level 3 Services department offers NDT support and services to the aerospace, oil & gas, petrochemical, medical and automotive industries, to name but a few.
IMechE Argyll Ruane considers the team of six highly capable, experienced, responsive and reliable Level 3 consultants as some of the best in the industry, but the recent challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have meant adapting to new ways of working.
The team has managed to keep supporting customers through all but the earliest days of the national lockdown and, along with the rest of IMechE Argyll Ruane, it quickly assessed the unique health & safety requirements of the crisis and adopted safe methods for working both on and off site. With services often being delivered overseas and travel currently restricted, the team is now able to provide consultancy over video conferencing, including providing Level 3 training using virtual classroom training (VCT), enabling NDT professionals to access advanced tuition from its industry experts anywhere in the world. Additionally, IMechE Argyll Ruane is now able to arrange for exams to be taken at partner training schools around the world, or indeed around the UK.
Core services include:
- Auditing of NDT facilities (including pre-Nadcap audits)
- Conducting NDT operator reviews
- Conducting eyesight tests
- Writing and approving NDT procedures and other technical documents (data cards/technique sheets)
- Validating new NDT equipment/methods/techniques introduced to a company
- Reviewing manufacturing drawings/standards to identify NDT requirements
- Writing and delivering bespoke and standard NDT training courses
- Providing employer-based certification scheme examination services (EN 4179/NAS 410 and
SNT-TC-1A) - Delivering technical guidance to ensure compliance to customer and regulatory requirements.
Each of IMechE Argyll Ruane’s consultants holds a range of Level 3 certifications, covering multiple NDT methods across various certification schemes (PCN, ASNT and EN 4179/NAS 410). In addition to the ‘standard’ certifications, several Level 3 consultants hold customer/regulatory-based approvals, including: Rolls-Royce plc, Airbus, BAE Systems and CAA Form 4 approval.
The team understands the time-critical demands of business, as well as the exceptional difficulties of operating in the current climate, and will adapt to fit a customer’s demands wherever possible.
