EM&I completes groundbreaking diverless UWILD in Malaysia

16/09/2025

EM&I has successfully completed its first-ever fully diverless special periodic survey (SPS) underwater inspection in lieu of drydocking (UWILD) in Malaysia, achieving class acceptance without the use of divers, work-class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) or deep-submergence vehicles (DSVs).

The innovative operation utilised Limpet technology for sea chest isolations and ODIN plugs to provide double block isolations on discharge lines. Inspections covered mooring chains down to their touchdown points and valves accessed from within the hull envelope using ODIN access ports.

Additionally, internal sea chest inspections were performed entirely from within the hull, eliminating the need for external intervention.

This achievement marks a significant milestone in offshore asset integrity, enhancing safety, efficiency and environmental sustainability.

EM&I continues to lead the industry with pioneering solutions that redefine underwater inspection and maintenance. It is an industry-leading global organisation providing asset integrity management, inspection and specialised repair and maintenance services to the oil, gas and renewable energy industries.
