Experts sought for BSI committee for nuclear reactor technology
29/09/2025
British Standards Institution (BSI) committee NCE/3 (Reactor Technology) is currently seeking experts in: power reactor analyses and measurements; research, test and isotope-production reactors; and power reactor’s siting, design, construction, operation and decommissioning.
BSI is the UK’s National Standards Body, representing UK economic and social interests across all European and international standards organisations. It works with many different industries, businesses, governments and consumers to develop British, European and international standards.
BSI technical committees are set up to develop standards in an area defined by their scope to manage standardisation in that area.
The following links provide further information about NCE/3 and its international mirror committee International Organization for Standardization (ISO)/ Technical Committee (TC) 85/SC 6 (Reactor Technology):
Members are asked to attend NCE/3 meetings three times a year (virtual or hybrid). Members are also asked to attend
ISO/TC 85/SC 6 Working Group (WG) meetings as part of this commitment. Members select a WG that matches their technical expertise and then collaborate with the international mirror committee to work with experts from other countries on standards in development.
A WG is comprised of a group of experts representing participating countries in the ISO Sub-Committee that is developing standards. These experts use their expertise on the subject matter to contribute to discussion/agreement on terminology, interpretation and technical aspects of standards. WGs meet several times a year (virtual or hybrid) to begin development of a standard, to refine it for presentation or Committee Draft ballot and later to address comments arising from the ballots to the greater body.
Anyone with relevant technical expertise who would like to know more about contributing to the development of standards is asked to contact Andranik Ohanian (email: andranik.ohanian@bsigroup.com) quoting NCE/3 and stating their applicable area of technical expertise. Note that members contribute their knowledge and technical expertise voluntarily and that BSI values diversity and inclusion in its committees.
