Shell renews multi-million-dollar iHawk contract
03/09/2025
Cyberhawk, a global leader in drone-based inspection and survey services and visual data management software, has reported the renewal of its five-year global agreement with Shell. The comprehensive iHawk contract will extend the successful collaboration to projects and assets worldwide and serve a user base that has expanded to more than 6000. This renewed multi-million-dollar agreement reaffirms Shell’s commitment to leveraging Cyberhawk’s iHawk cloud-based visual data management platform as a cornerstone of digital transformation across assets and capital projects worldwide.
Initially deployed to ensure oversight and transparency as part of a landmark US$10 billion (approximately £7.4 billion) capital project in 2016, Shell’s deployment of iHawk has since scaled globally as a visualisation and data integration platform across Shell’s portfolio, supporting projects and assets from large engineering and construction developments to retail infrastructure.

Over the past several years, the partnership has grown significantly in scale and scope. Following the initial project, Shell and Cyberhawk signed a global five-year agreement, which was recently renewed after demonstrating substantial operational and strategic value. Today, iHawk is utilised by Shell in dozens of countries across four continents, with more than 6000 users across all of Shell’s business units. The partnership with Cyberhawk enables Shell to digitally manage projects at any scale, from anywhere in the world, for both efficient project execution and future asset performance assessments.
“Shell recognised early on the agility and customisation that Cyberhawk and iHawk bring to the table,” said Patrick Saracco, Senior Vice President (SVP) of Sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Cyberhawk. “What began as a single capital project has expanded into a long-term global partnership. We now collaborate with Shell to tailor iHawk’s development roadmap to its evolving needs. This joint innovation effort has shifted the yardstick for what is possible in this space.”
iHawk’s value is that it is intuitive and data agnostic and it democratises data to all relevant stakeholders, creating a single entry point for visualising, navigating and managing vast and complex project data. Its user-centric design has made it a cornerstone tool within Shell’s digital ecosystem.
The iHawk platform delivers impressive value and cost savings across Shell’s operations. Improved operational efficiency reduces logistical and on-site visit costs and faster decision-making means reducing the time spent locating and validating project documents. Supply chain disputes can also be minimised and resolved through data transparency and visual verification, mitigating risk.
Cyberhawk’s collaboration with Shell exemplifies the platform’s appeal beyond traditional asset owners. Today, iHawk is being adopted by major engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors and other global operators, demonstrating its flexibility and impact at every level of the energy value chain.
As Shell continues to advance its global infrastructure and decarbonisation ambitions, Cyberhawk remains a key partner in ensuring its capital projects are digitally enabled, data driven and more collaborative than ever before.
Founded in 2008, Cyberhawk claims to be the first company in the world to use drones to inspect industrial assets. Its world-class pilots and inspection engineers have completed over 500,000 unmanned aircraft system (UAS) inspections, for 300+ customers across 40 countries.
