New Source Retrieval Training and Rehearsed Contingency Plan
21/04/2008
Under current legislation covered by the Ionising Radiation Regulations 1999 (IRR99) it is a requirement that all companies handling or using radioactive material(s), have in place a contingency plan to cover the retrieval and making safe of any source in the highly unlikely event of the source becoming detached or being displaced from its shielded container.Argyll-Ruane, in association with AMEC Specialist Services (MAPEL) and HTSL, is providing what is believed to be the only course which enables candidates to enact practical source retrieval with full equipment and enabling a maintenance practical element.
Courses are available in Argyll-Ruane's Rotherham and Halesowen Centres, or on-site at the host company's location.
The duration of the programme is three days and is an ideal practical additional course programme to standard Basic Radiation Safety and Radiation Safety Supervisory courses.
