Applus RTD awarded manual NDT services contract

02/04/2013

Applus RTD UK Ltd is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the Manual NDT Services Contract by EDF Energy for the provision of inspection services to EDF Energy’s fleet of eight nuclear power stations across the UK.

The contract, which commenced on 1 January 2013, is primarily to deliver UT, MPI, DPI, eddy current and radiography inspection techniques, although both Applus RTD and EDF Energy are keen to keep pace with the latest technological developments and so innovation with advanced inspection techniques is also expected to play an important role over the potential seven-year contract term.

The nuclear industry requires safety, quality, technical and service delivery standards of the highest calibre and Applus RTD is proud to have been assessed and selected against such criteria. Applus RTD is now committed to developing the closest working relationship with EDF Energy, based on excellent performance and continuous improvement.

Due to its size and longevity, the contract will offer employment and long-term career opportunities for a large number of skilled and experienced technicians, who will be tasked with delivering the planned inspection routines as well as the time-critical services in support of station outages. Applus RTD therefore regards the award as a great opportunity for personnel to enhance and develop skills in an otherwise difficult labour market.

The contract award is an important addition to Applus RTD’s UK business portfolio, which strengthens the company’s position as one of the leading providers of inspection services to the power and energy markets in the UK.
