TÜV Rheinland Sonovation has been accepted by the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre as a Tier 2 member.

The Nuclear AMRC, based at the University of Sheffield, combines industry
expertise and university innovation to improve capabilities and performance along the nuclear supply chain. Forty companies, including reactor vendors, manufacturers and specialist equipment and service providers, have now joined as full members.

TÜV Rheinland Sonovation is the Worldwide NDT Competence Centre for the TÜV Rheinland Group and offers a range of services, products, software solutions and high-level training to the Nuclear AMRC.

Foremost amongst these are the provision of ultrasonic inspection at high temperatures, training in advanced technology and provision of equipment.

Jan Verkooijen, R&D Director of TÜV Rheinland Sonovation, stated that he can see this cooperation being of great help to the aims of the Nuclear AMRC in both the use of present technology and assistance in bringing TÜV Rheinland Sonovation’s generic R&D work to bear in many projects.

Professor Stephen Court, Operations Director of the Nuclear AMRC, told NDT News: “Non-destructive testing is a crucial area for nuclear manufacturing, as companies need to demonstrate that their products meet the highest quality standards. By joining the Nuclear AMRC, TÜV Rheinland Sonovation will help us to support the UK supply chain, and will work with ourselves and our members to develop new techniques and technologies for the global nuclear industry.”
