07/08/2013

Within its first year of trading, Aberdeen-based Rigmar Training Centre has been awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification from awarding body Det Norske Veritas (DNV).

This certificate gives global recognition of the stability of the company’s quality management system and demonstrates the Centre’s compliance and commitment to industry-respected practices.

Managing Director, Ray Wilson, launched the site in 2012 and believ
es that certification will help the company to secure new business and further build on its success to date. He said: “I started the Rigmar Training Centre with the vision to create a centre of excellence for NDE and rope access training, as well as to advise industry leaders through our consultancy services. To date, over £500,000 has been invested in the centre with this ambition in mind.

“Within a short space of time we built up the NDT division, securing accreditation and approvals from leading industry bodies such as The British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT) that provide us with the approval to administer training and examination under both PCN and SNT schemes.

“This recent certification demonstrates our commitment to efficient work practices and business objectives, resulting in easily-defined responsibilities, reducing costs and offering a high level of customer satisfaction, amongst other benefits.”

In June, the Rigmar Training Centre also secured accreditation from the International Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA), expanding its services to include IRATA rope access training and consultancy services.

Speaking of the milestone, Ray said: “The launch of the rope access division is the second phase of our strategic growth plan and early response to the service has been exceptional. To achieve one accolade within a month is an achievement, to achieve two demonstrates the experience and calibre of the team at the Rigmar Training Centre as well as our ability to ensure that quality remains at an internationally-recognised level during a period of accelerated growth.”

Tilo Phillips has been appointed as IRATA Rope Access Training Manager to manage the rope access division. Bringing 12 years of rope access experience to the role, the IRATA Level 3t Instructor/Assessor commented: “Rigmar Training is an ambitious company. I am delighted to have joined Rigmar and to have the opportunity to continue to deliver high-quality IRATA rope access training as part of Ray’s team.”
