Labquip NDT to showcase USM 100 digital flaw detector at NDT 2025 in Edinburgh

29/08/2025

Labquip NDT Limited, a leading provider of non-destructive testing (NDT) solutions, will use BINDT's Annual Conference on Non-Destructive Testing (NDT 2025) in Edinburgh to unpack the features, benefits and cost-effectiveness of the latest portable USM 100 digital ultrasonic tester.

Chris Vaughan, Territory Manager North of England (Durham) and Dean Addison, Territory Manager Scotland (Aberdeen), will both represent Labquip NDT UK at the event, taking place at Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC), Scotland, from 9-11 September.

“The USM 100 is currently proving very popular in the worlds of industry and process plants, particularly in relation to the testing of metals, metal fabrications, joints and welds. The portable form and factor of the USM allows access to previously closed areas: a few minutes testing can pre-empt some very expensive problems and failures and put any product liabilities to rest,” noted Dean.

“Scotland’s extensive oil & gas infrastructure is the perfect environment in which to put the USM 100 to use. We hope to open up and share many of the USM 100’s secrets together with the industry in Edinburgh in September,” added Dean.

Chris pointed out that public and private utilities also have a clear and definite need for both the fact- and fault-finding abilities of the USM 100: “The UK’s water boards, for example, have been in the media for the wrong reasons. Leakages and infrastructure failures, for example, are jeopardising the health and safety of Britain’s rivers and sea shores. But with a careful and thorough analysis of pipeline and structures, the USM 100 can head off many of those problems. The technology can also be used in a positive way: to help design and plan programmes of much needed refurbishment and retrofit.”

USM 100 sales have gone from strength to strength since November 2023 when Labquip NDT was appointed as the official distributor for the whole of the UK for Waygate Krautkrämer ultrasonic testing equipment. The USM 100 distributorship is but one of the jewels in the Labquip NDT crown.

Since its foundation in Stroud in 2017, Labquip NDT has drawn support and value from BINDT and from BINDT events. The company is dedicated to advancing its customers' businesses through equipment support and training, service, production demonstrations and the import and supply of the best NDT technology and equipment.

The company's recent growth has seen its UK team double in size since its foundation. The growth trend is expected to continue, prompting Labquip NDT to further equip its 2000 sq ft Stroud base with further NDT services and capacity for equipment sales and spares.

Labquip NDT offers an increased level of product demonstrations of all kinds, in situ and online, for those clients that are investing further in these testing and inspection capabilities.
