26/08/2025

The shortlist for the Engineering Talent Awards (ETAs) 2025 has been officially revealed and shines a spotlight on individuals and organisations driving inclusion, innovation and talent in the engineering and technology sectors.

Now in its sixth year, the national awards recognise excellence in diversity and inclusion across all levels of engineering, from apprentices and students to executive leaders and employer networks. Powered by EqualEngineers, and in partnership with the Royal Academy of Engineering and Metro, the 2025 awards continue to highlight the importance of equity in shaping the future of the UK’s engineering workforce.

Organisations making this year’s shortlist include Thales UK, BAE Systems, Amazon, Galliford Try and Waterman Aspen, with many competing across multiple award categories. Prominent employer networks such as REACH at Rolls-Royce SMR and Devonport STEM at Babcock International have been recognised for their employee-driven efforts to foster inclusive workplace cultures.

Meanwhile, individuals from across the UK have been celebrated for their talent and potential. Apprentice and graduate engineers from companies such as Lucideon, Taylor Woodrow, Tata Steel UK and Thales UK have been recognised alongside students from leading institutions, including the University of Bristol, the University of Bath, the University of Sheffield and Loughborough University.

Academic impact has also been recognised, with categories such as University Engineering Staff Member of the Year and University Engineering Team of the Year honouring the work of faculty members and research teams advancing inclusive learning and innovation in higher education.

Dr Mark McBride-Wright, Founder of the Engineering Talent Awards and EqualEngineers, said: “Every year, the Engineering Talent Awards reveal the incredible depth and diversity of talent driving change across our sector. The 2025 shortlist showcases individuals and organisations who are not only delivering technical excellence, but who are leading the charge in creating inclusive, welcoming environments where everyone can thrive.

“With the pushback against diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) we have seen in the recent months, I was more determined than ever for the Engineering Talent Awards to continue platforming individuals and projects that are making a huge difference to the world right now.

“From apprentices and students to executive leaders and pioneering small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), these finalists represent the future of engineering, a future that is innovative, equitable and representative of the society we serve. I am proud that the Engineering Talent Awards continue to provide a national platform for celebrating role models who are making a real difference in our industry.”

New to the awards this year are trailblazing entries such as the Semi-Physical Brain Model for Benchmarking Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Systems from Heriot-Watt University and innovative projects in safety and propulsion technology led by Amazon, Stars Edge Ltd and Levidian Nanosystems.

Winners will be announced at a ceremony on 3 October 2025 in Manchester. The full shortlist and tickets for the awards ceremony are available at the website below.
