Baugh & Weedon, a leading manufacturer of non-destructive testing (NDT) instrumentation, has announced the launch of the LumaFlux 4D, the next evolution of its highly successful LumaFlux 3D meter. Building on the proven reliability and dual-function capability of the 3D model, the new LumaFlux 4D introduces expanded functionality and enhanced operational modes designed to streamline magnetic particle inspection (MPI) workflows and improve data confidence. The original LumaFlux 3D combined a dual UV/white light meter and tangential field strength meter within a single rugged hand-held unit, eliminating the need for multiple devices on the inspection bench. The LumaFlux 4D retains this trusted core functionality while introducing a series of powerful new features that further support inspectors across aerospace, automotive, energy and manufacturing NDT environments.

New operational modes in the LumaFlux 4D include the White Light Meter Mode, which measures visible light intensity with precision for compliance and process control, the UV Light Meter Mode, which accurately captures UV output for fluorescent MPI and fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI) applications, a shot timer that assists inspectors in maintaining consistent magnetisation and exposure times for repeatable testing, a Pie Gauge Mode, providing real-time visibility of magnetic field direction and adequacy for field validation, and a magnetic waveform display, offering a clear digital view of waveform characteristics, supporting more accurate assessment of alternating current (AC) and half-wave direct current (HWDC) magnetisation.
With its expanded feature set, the LumaFlux 4D consolidates multiple essential MPI measurement tools into one durable, easy-to-use instrument. This reduces equipment handling, improves workflow efficiency and ensures that inspectors can perform and verify MPI processes with unprecedented convenience.
